Massmedia owners and their responsibility
How truthful do you think information from media is taking into account the ones that own massmedia corporations have a lot of economical interests in mind and lots of partnerships with different companies and politicians?

Since the beginning, Power has been demonstrated through elements like strength, ability, intelligence, etc. During the last century there have been an notorious changes in sources of the power. Before, people who had factories or business in massive products had many influence and economical power in the society. Nowadays, with the development of the technology, and especially IT, there has been changing the way of generates power elements. In this moment, the information is a valuable resource and I think that Information from media isn’t showed with an objective point of view. Unfortunately. On the other side, thank again to IT development, it possible to find out information with other sources that could have a point of view more objective, so I think that in order to have an information more truthful it is totally required find sources not just in Colombia but in the whole world and internet permits that in just one second.
Angie Gómez Duarte 244358 It’s true that the information on several topics are manipulated by the media, but not all networks have political interest, there are some independent networks, they make an effort to tell the truth, this activities have been increased with the evolution of the internet, because there are a lot of “citizen reporters” that just tell the true, they make complains about the topics that affect us daily, the big networks are unreliable, they hide the truth to show us a non-existent reality, a beautiful one, a reality where there’s no problems, where there’s no war, they try to blind us, we must be restless, we must seek for the truth, and then we will find it.
Is very difficult to think that the media will always be truthful in the news they publish on many occasions it is more important for them not caring dress up hearing the news and often exaggerated, for example, producers tend to show pictures of people fighting pain or but when analyzing the news is usually not have good content. these reports are also influenced by people who have greater power in the country, making the news only leaving more for them. For example, never take on the news the real grievances of citizens before the Transmilenio, the news only show the good things about this system.In conclusion, the news is influenced by people with more power and especially the media seek to generate greater audience no matter the quality of the information.
Through time, massmedia have been a key piece in political and economic powers. In Colombian case, is common knowledge that massmedia manage information so biased. It's difficult trust the information that is read in newspapers or that is heard in news broadcasts because everything depends on the interests of each company. An example of deteriorating news broadcasts in Colombia is the fringes of entertainers which over time have been taking more space news. Likewise occurs with issue of incomplete information that people receive by massmedia. E.g., when doing a survey, the results are misunderstood because the sample is often not significant or does not reflect the reality of the Colombian population. It's the case of issue unemployment in our country. While people feel that this situation does not improve the reports of the newspapers or news broadcasts is that unemployment levels have fallen.
There is a famous saying, "who has the information, has the power", this phrase is evident when looking at the trend of business groups in Colombia, which has appropriated by the mass media, including television, radio and newspapers.
It is almost obvious that the information we receive daily in the news is "classified." It is no coincidence that all these powerful businessmen interested in the dissemination of information, what happens is that from there you can control what reaches the public, to promote the image of their business and political figures, and also to hide some facts that might affect their image.

Whether mass media corporation owners are linked to other companies and politicians for economical and convenience reasons, we cannot be sure. Mass media has to be linked with many other companies, as everything in life is like a food chain. One has to feed from the other in order to survive, could be like politicians paying a TV channel, who knows. However, it may not be convenient for a mass media company to have strategic alliances with other companies or public figures, due to the fact that if one falls, it will fall on top of the one below it demolishing everything on it’s way. If a politician has to pay a mass media company to advertise him, then his campaign might not be as truthful as he or she makes it out to be. This means that for whatever reason the media in the middle of the whole politician issue might go downhill. When talking about economical interests between mass media corporations and other entities could be true, because it’s obvious that every business out there needs to earn money therefore finding economical convenience in someone else is just the way the business chain works.
Usually we hear that many people are unhappy with the news that our mass media companies tell us. Everybody knows that here in Colombia, our most viewed channels are Caracol and Rcn, so, in that way, this is our principal problem, the mass media companies are monopolized and the newspaper also reflects this; “El Espectador” in its eternal battle with “El Tiempo” (liberals versus conservative positions respectively) manipulates the information depending on their political points of view. Also, the newspapers are not independent of the news in the channels; Santodomingo is the owner of Caracol and “El Espectador”. In addition, years ago were created a free newspaper called “ADN”, this newspaper is distributed every day in the principal sites of the principal cities, but did you know that it was also created by the “Casa Editorial El Tiempo”? We need urgently neutral news from companies that destroy this globalization of misinformation, destroy the connection between newspapers and channels and to evade the behavior of the ostrich: to have no knowledge of reality put the hear on the T.V.
Hi Teacher, this is my opinion about your question...
In my opinion, I think in this time the information that the media provide will always have a subliminal message behind it. It always makes us ever more purely consumerist society. Consumerism is what gives movement to large enterprises and this result in getting more money in their favor to get richer and be able to manage the industry in which they are present. The idea is to create monopolies where they are that are impossible not to buy them. If we look more closely at the information that the media shows us every day, I believe that it is divided into two classes: the idea of beauty and fashion, and the idea of help people that need it. These two classes come from a number of highly business that appeals people. The beauty and fashion is something that moves masses. This type of influence we can find in young people from schools and universities nowadays, where they live around foreign fashions and always with the "last fashion". It helps us to realize that every day we are missing the true customs of our country and what's important really.
Think about the power will always lead to unexpected places for believe the information be truth. The problem lies in believing that the information builds a strong mind. The thought considers the information is the basis of knowledge is detached from the event, giving priority to the form of communication rather than to fact. When people think it a real version, download its responsibility for this in the other's version, which is why it does not matter who is holding the information, the important thing is that people place their trust in mass media information, order to believe in this news. People agree and consume this kind of information, they not take care about the manipulation of information. The particular interest tends to present the problem as a real problem, of particular interests on the handling, and wonder: How to give information? What information to give? The problem is that people consume because that's what they want to watch, so the information is manipulated. I think the problem isn't the manipulation of mass media, the problem is: people wants consume.
